Tom Abel is a Minnesota Pottery artist who specializes in handbuilt stoneware pottery. Tom makes stoneware teapots, cups, plates, serving platters, incense burners and many other functional ceramic objects for everyday use or display. Tom likes to experiment with shapes and textures, working the clay until it becomes something that looks good to him. Tom likes cracked clay, textures and earthy forms in his Hand Built ceramics. Tom prefers to keep the texture and/or the shape of the pot as the main focus while adding the shine (bright colors and glossy glazes) to the inside of the pot as a surprise to the viewer. The ceramic pottery Tom Abel makes are hi-fire (cone 10) stoneware, his ceramics for the most part are are waterproof and food safe... We hope you will find (and buy) something that you enjoy looking at or can use in some way in your life. Tom Abel Specializes in hand-built (and occasionally wheel-thrown) stoneware pottery. Like most artists Tom loves to look at art and other artists work. He is always fascinated by the immense talent and diversity of art in the world around us... He hopes to add artists to the the gallery soon who share a passion for clay, fire and excellence of design.
